β-Elemene enhances radiosensitivity in non-small-cell lung cancer by inhibiting epithelial–mesenchymal transition and cancer stem cell traits via Prx-1/NF-kB/iNOS signaling pathway

Figure 7. The effect of β-elemene and RT on tumor growth in a xenograft mouse model of human non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Female athymic nude mice aged 4-5 weeks old were used in the study. A549 cells (5×106 in 100 μL PBS) were injected subcutaneously into the left flank of each mouse. The experiment was performed as described in materials and methods. The xenografts were harvested after two weeks. (A) Representative images of the xenografts. (B) Tumor volume was measured once every 2 days and was calculated as: V = (width2×length)/2.
