Icariin not only prolongs life span of ageing animals but also improves cognitive function and motor coordination by promoting neurogenesis, enhancing neuronal autophagy, increasing sirtuins protein like Sirt1, Sirt3, Sirt6, and exerting antioxidant effect in the brain.
