Effect of Humanin G (HNG) on inflammation in age-related macular degeneration (AMD)

Treatment with Humanin G reduces the levels of inflammation-associated proteins namely CD62E (E-Selectin), CD62P (P-Selectin), ICAM-1, TNF-α, MIP-1α, IFN-γ, and IL-1β. This is turn might decrease retinal inflammation, reduce RPE cell death and oxidative stress, thereby preventing retinal degeneration. This may delay the development/ progression of AMD.
