For climbing ability measurement, the sample size was about 100 flies for each group. For climbing index, using a one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) followed by an LSD test among different groups. For lifespan, the sample size was 200-220 flies for each group. P-values for lifespan curves and climbing endurance curves were calculated by the log-rank test.
