The impact of continuous and intermittent ketogenic diets on cognitive behavior, motor function, and blood lipids in TgF344-AD rats

Performance in the elevated plus maze (A, n = 9–15/group) was assessed at 8 months of age and % time spent in the center of the open field was assessed at 8 (B, n = 9–12/group) and 12 (C, n = 10–14/group) months of age. Data were analyzed by two-way ANOVA followed with the Tukey’s post-hoc pairwise comparisons. Elevated plus maze (8 months of age) and % time spent in the center (8 and 12 months of age) demonstrated a significant sex (p < 0.05) effect. *p < 0.05, **p < 0.01, ***p < 0.001. Diets: control (CD), intermittent ketogenic (IKD) and ketogenic (KD).
