Inhibition of heat shock proteins increases autophagosome formation, and reduces the expression of APP, Tau, SOD1 G93A and TDP-43

Control studies showing siRNA knockdown of proteins in HCT116 cells. HCT116 cells were transfected with a scrambled control siRNA or siRNA molecules to knock down the expression of eIF2α, AKPKα1, Beclin1 or ATG5. Twenty-four h afterwards, cells were fixed in place and the expression and phosphorylation of the indicated proteins determined.
