Combined treatment with C16 peptide and angiopoietin-1 confers neuroprotection and reduces inflammation in 3-nitropropionic acid-induced dystonia mice

Western blot analyses of the levels of (A, B) CD68 (C, D) ZO-1 in the control, 3-NP, and 3-NP+C16+Ang-1 groups revealed that treatment with C16+Ang-l can suppress 3-NP-induced inflammation, protect the blood vessels and promote neuroprotection. Detection of CD68 indicated microglia/macrophage activation. Zonula occludens protein-1 (ZO-1) is a marker protein for tight junctions in epithelial cells.
