miR-21 regulates ischemic neuronal injury via the p53/Bcl-2/Bax signaling pathway

miR-21 was down-regulated while p53 was up-regulated following ischemia in vitro. (A) TUNEL assay showed that OGD/R-induced neuronal death significantly increased compared with the normoxia group. Scale bar, 50μm. (B) qRT-PCR revealed that miR-21 was remarkably down-regulated following OGD/R in neurons compared with the normoxia group. (C) qRT-PCR and western blot indicated that p53 mRNA and protein were both significantly up-regulated following OGD/R.
