The double mutant strain, sfp1Δ, afo1Δ was constructed as described in the Materials and Methods section, tested for lifespan, and compared with both single mutant strains and the wild type. The sfp1? strain grows very slowly although it is respiratory-competent, is highly resistant to t-BHP and is very short-lived. The short lifespan of sfp1Δ is partially rescued by afo1Δ.
