Apolipoprotein D in lipid metabolism and its functional implication in atherosclerosis and aging

Figure 3. ApoD distribution in lipoproteins. Male C57BL/6J mice (3-5 weeks old) were fed regular chow (RC) or high fat diet (HF) for 8 weeks. Aliquots of 250-μl sera of mice (n=5) were fractionated by gel filtration column chromatography. Fractions (500 μl) were collected for the determination of cholesterol concentrations. Likewise, aliquots of sera (250 μl) of male apoE knockout mice (ApoE-/-, 12 weeks old on regular chow) were fractionated to VLDL, LDL and HDL fractions. Peak fractions of VLDL, LDL and HDL were subjected to immunoblot assay using anti-ApoD antibody.
