MAB21L1 promotes survival of lens epithelial cells through control of αB-crystallin and ATR/CHK1/p53 pathway

Mab21L1 promotes survival of lens epithelial cells through upregulation of αB-crystallin to suppress the ATR/CHK1/p53 pathway and thus downregulate Bak expression but enhance Mcl-1 expression. As a result, MAB21L1 can suppress stress (okadaic acid or UVA)-induced apoptosis.
